Do you have a loved one that lives alone?
Lumo — a nightlight that texts you if their day looks off.
Imagine a device that can tell you if Mom didn't leave her bedroom by 10am, or that Dad's kitchen had no activity during his normal meal times, or that the hallway saw no movement all evening. Maybe it's nothing — but maybe you'd want to check in. No need to imagine — that's the new Lumo SafetyLight: silent motion monitoring in a simple plug-in nightlight, plus a nightly Daily Report on the full day's activity. Try it free at home for 60 days — just $7.95 shipping, and keep the nightlight even if you don't continue.
Try Lumo free at home for 60 days — you just cover $7.95 shipping. Love it? Keep SafeWatch for $4.99/mo. Not for you? Keep it as a simple nightlight, or send it back before your trial ends and we'll refund your shipping. Just want updates? Join the list.

The call is the easy part. The hours in between are the hard part.
Calling your mom or dad is how you stay close — and you should keep doing it. But a call only tells you about the one moment they picked up. What about the missed call that turns out to be nothing? The day you couldn't reach them? The hours between "good morning" and "goodnight" when you're at work and just… hoping? The relationship isn't the problem. The gaps are.
Plug it in. Set the hours. Get your Daily Report.
Plug into any outlet
Lumo works like the nightlight your parent already uses. Nothing for them to wear, press, or remember — no changes to their routine. You handle the quick Lumo setup right from your own cell phone — no app to download.
Set your SafeWatch windows
You pick the hours that matter. In a bedroom or hall, that might be a morning wake-up window (ex. 6–9am) and an evening window (ex. 7–9pm). In a kitchen, your windows could be breakfast (7–10am) and dinner (5–7pm). Lumo's motion sensor detects movement nearby during those times — and texts you ONLY if a window goes quiet.
Get your Daily Report — every evening at the same time (9pm default)
Every night, Lumo texts you a short summary of activity throughout the day — including the reassuring time of last motion detected. All texts are sent to one or two cell numbers you program — yours, plus another caregiver or neighbor if you like.
A warm little nightlight doing a quietly clever job.
One small unit plugs into a standard outlet. Behind the friendly glow is a motion sensor and the SafeWatch logic that texts you — nothing your parent has to wear, charge, or operate.

- Passive motion sensing. A built-in PIR sensor notices ordinary movement in the room — no camera, no microphone, ever.
- Two SafeWatch windows. Set a morning and an evening window from your phone in minutes, using simple dropdown menus.
- Daily Report every night, plus an instant heads-up. A short text each night (9pm by default, adjustable to 7, 8, or 10pm), and an immediate alert if a window goes quiet — sent by SMS to one or two caregiver cell numbers you choose.
- Adjustable light, or none at all. Dim it or switch it off completely — and a Sleep Mode also turns off the small blue/green motion-indicator LED, so the room stays fully dark. The monitoring keeps working either way.
- Pet Shield & wall-mount kit included. Useful if you have pets — raising Lumo above pet level so a cat or dog won't trip false alerts — or when the nearest outlet is low or tucked away and the sensor needs a clearer view of the room.
- Plugs into any standard 110V outlet. Sits in a hallway, kitchen, or bedroom — wherever your parent naturally passes through.
- Connects over home Wi-Fi (2.4GHz). Setup is from your phone — there's no app for you or your parent to learn.
It looks like a nightlight. It acts like a nightlight. So it stays plugged in.
The best monitoring is the kind your parent forgets is there. Lumo asks nothing of them — no wearing, no buttons, no new habits — which is exactly why it doesn't get taken off, switched off, or resented.
Nothing to wear
No pendant, no wristband, no charging. Nothing that says "I'm being watched" or that gets left on the nightstand.
Nothing to do
No app for your parent, no buttons to press, no calls to answer. They live exactly as they did yesterday.
Doesn't feel medical
It's a warm little light by the bed — and they can dim it or switch it off entirely to suit their room. The monitoring keeps working either way.
Pendants get left in a drawer. Cameras feel like surveillance. A nightlight just gets plugged in — and keeps working.
What Lumo is — and what it isn't.
We'd rather you trust the right thing. Lumo is a daily reassurance tool, not an emergency device.
What Lumo does
- Passively notices everyday movement in the room
- Texts you a Daily Report each night (9pm by default)

- It does not call for help or contact 911
- It does not detect falls or medical emergencies
- It is not a substitute for a medical alert system
- It does not record video or audio

Things caregivers ask us.
Can the light be dimmed or turned off? Will it still work?
Yes to both. The brightness is adjustable, and your parent can turn the light off completely if they'd rather not have it glowing at night. There's also a Sleep Mode that goes one step further: it switches off the small blue/green LED that blinks when motion is detected, so the room can stay completely dark. The motion sensing and your Daily Report keep working exactly the same — the light and the monitoring are independent, so they can set up the light however suits their room without affecting your peace of mind.
Will my parent actually accept it?
That's the idea behind the nightlight shape — it looks and works like something many seniors already use. There's nothing to wear, charge, or operate, and they can dim or switch off the light to suit themselves. For most people there's no new habit and nothing to resist.
Is there a camera? Can it see or hear inside the home?
No. Lumo uses a motion sensor only. It detects that movement happened — not what the movement was. There is no video and no audio, ever.
So I get a text every day? Or only when something's wrong?
Both, and they're different. Every night you get a short Daily Report so you have a sense of how the day went — things like when there was first and last activity, and whether the day was active or quiet overall. It arrives at 9pm by default, and you can change the time to 7, 8, or 10pm from the menu. Separately, if a monitoring window you set ever goes quiet during the day, Lumo texts you right then so you don't have to wait for the Daily Report. Most days, the Daily Report is all you'll see.
Does the Daily Report mean you're tracking my parent's every move?
No. The Daily Report is built from motion patterns — roughly when there was activity and when it was quiet — never video, never audio, and never what your parent was actually doing. It's meant to give you a feel for a normal day, not a minute-by-minute log. If your parent ever feels it's too much, the windows and Daily Report are yours to adjust.
What exactly happens if there's no motion?
You get a text letting you know no activity was detected during a window you chose, so you can decide whether to call or check in. Lumo doesn't contact emergency services — that decision and action stay with you.
Can I text Lumo to get an update, or turn the texts off?
Yes — a few simple keywords put you in control. Text UPDATE anytime and Lumo replies with a fresh hourly motion summary, sent at the next hour change — the same detail it sends right after an alert — so you can check in whenever you're wondering instead of waiting for the nightly Daily Report. Text STOP to turn all Lumo texts off, and START to turn them back on. Worth knowing: STOP pauses everything, including SafeWatch alerts, so you won't get the heads-up texts again until you send START.
Calling is free — why would I pay for this?
Because the call and Lumo do different jobs. The call is for connection; Lumo is for the 23 hours a day you're not on the phone. A free call still leaves you wondering between calls, driving over after a missed one, and unable to check at 6am. Lumo covers exactly those gaps for about a coffee a month — so the call stays about love, not surveillance.
Is the monthly subscription required?
Yes. The $4.99/mo SafeWatch service is what powers the monitoring — the windows you set, the heads-up texts, and the Daily Report. Without an active subscription, Lumo still works as a nightlight, but it won't send any texts or alerts. The device is yours to keep; the subscription is what keeps the watching on.
Do I stop calling my parent if I get this?
Please don't — and that's the whole point. Lumo is built to sit alongside your calls, not replace them. You keep the relationship and the voice; Lumo just quietly handles the hours in between so a missed call doesn't send you spiraling.
Is this a replacement for Life Alert or a medical alarm?
No, and we won't pretend otherwise. Lumo is for daily reassurance, not emergencies. If your parent is at high risk of falls or medical events, a dedicated medical alert system is the right tool — and Lumo can sit alongside it.
When would I receive my device?
Once you start your free 60-day trial, we ship your Lumo SafetyLight and email you tracking. You pay only the $7.95 shipping to start — the device is free, and the $4.99/mo SafeWatch subscription is an optional opt-in at day 60, not before.
Do I need Wi-Fi at my parent's home?
Yes. Lumo connects over the home's standard 2.4GHz Wi-Fi so it can send your Daily Report and alerts. You handle the whole setup from your own phone using simple dropdown menus — there's no app or account for your parent to manage.
We have a pet. Will it cause false alerts?
If you have a pet in the house, you can use the included Pet Shield & wall-mount kit to position Lumo higher on the wall — keeping the sensor's field of view above most wandering pets.
Where should it go, and does it have to be at an outlet?
Most families put Lumo in a hallway, kitchen, or bedroom — somewhere your parent naturally passes through. It plugs into any standard 110V outlet. It also comes with a wall-mount kit and enclosed cable, handy in a couple of cases: raising Lumo about 4 feet up to keep it above pet level if you have pets, or giving the sensor a clearer view of the room when the only nearby outlet is low or tucked behind furniture. One tip: use the top socket of the outlet, and make sure it isn't one controlled by a wall switch — that leaves the lower outlet free, so you don't block it for other plugs.
What happens if the power goes out?
Lumo simply resumes monitoring once power comes back, and alerts pick up again at your next SafeWatch window. Because it's a wellness aid rather than an emergency device, it isn't meant to be relied on as a sole safety system.
What if my parent will be away from home for a while?
When they're traveling or staying elsewhere, switch on Away Mode. It suppresses the AM and PM SafeWatch alerts, so an empty house won't set off a "no activity" text. The Daily Report still fires as usual — and when they're back home, you simply turn Away Mode off to pick right back up.
